And, since you have no prior knowledge to work with, that's all it is. That said, you "Can't lose" by buying shares. You only lose "potential". Meaning, any price of shares, esp this low, is good, but even lower is better. So, just keep an eye on it, and be ready. Or, just set a bid and occasionally keep an eye on it. We have had an hour, so obviously it's not a quick fix. And, since many of us were given hundreds of ads, we need assurances that our ad time will be extended. I don't think it's unreasonable to ask them to be aware of us, and once they realize that the issue is not simple, to just shoot us a quick, "We know, we're working on it. Don't worry your Ad Timers will be extended" I'm decently positive they will be extended, but the uncertainty is not a good thing. You are fixing things in the background (which they obviously are, pressing hard so we can have the damned swap asap...) and things pop up and have to be solved. You can´t just stop all the programming and say 'ok let me go in the forum and warn everybody and ask for their permission to fix things' Things happen and have to be fixed. And it never happened that ads weren´t extended if we had a maintenance. Ever. Maybe it would be best to take the site down? Some people might think so... but some people might argue that it is better and makes people feel safer if the forum is still online. We all know there are a lot of apocalypse heralds that will run and say 'this is scam' if the sites go down for maintenance. By "never ever" you actually mean "extended" downtime. We've had times where it was a few minutes, and no downtime, which is perfectly acceptable. Yeah, see, when PV is actually "down", they do actually write a message, and even update it occasionally. So, I see no issue with having 1 guy, take a quick break (I'm sure they go to the bathroom and coffee) use their smartphone, or computer they aren't working on, and sending the quick message. Ofcourse, a phone call to Slosumo (and the support team in the future) would allow the support team to send the message. And, yeah the whole down or not down sides of the coin. That's too much to get into. It´s not a reason, its a consequence. A normal professional way to deal with this is : Put PV in maintenance mode now. Open a topic in NEWS section stating what is happening Give a rough estimate of service resume and keep updating that post if the ETA cannot be met.
