Things would depend on amount of users per auction and the time for the winning bid to last. We could start with a couple of auctions per day a considerable time. And things could start on a experimented level with 5k/10k BAP per auction. The risk is minimum and potential is untalkable! Just set the reserve price higher that the cost of the bids needed to get there and it's guaranteed income. Those auctions the bids that are not the highest one are not returned to the bidder, but part of the income, thats it, isnt it? I did not know they had the name of "penny auctions" (indeed i had never heard about them) but i can see the potential they have. Btw, in your last post you are proposing that if total bids do not reach the real value of the auctioned item the auction will just be declared as desert and no one will receive the item? thats it? If you don't win, you lose the bids you've used on that auction. That is how the profit is nearly guaranteed. There is only one "winner". If you get 10 people each placing bids worth $3 on a $10 item, the winner gets a deal, 9 people lose $3, then you have to "pay" for your item in cash and MTV nets $30-$10  = $20 + $3 actual winning price of item = $23.  It's much more like gambling than an auction. Yes there are several sites out there, that have earn good money on this consent. What we should do different. MTV  Don't buy any gift card. Rather let the members list their gift card for sale. Example suggestion; If a other member want's this gift card. The member/buyer clicks on an option to buy this gift card, for 16$ that is 20 dollars wort. (or f.ex 160$, that 200 dollars wort)Then MTV buy's the gift card and resell it to the member/buyer that wanted the gift card Seller gets 14 dollars MTV gets 2 dollars, that's 10 % profit on every sale of gift card, minus costs of having this feature. We don't want MTV to buy all gift cards and maybe not sell them all, have money tied up in some gift cards, that maybe wont be sold. Isn't the smartest move. (Me f.ex. have 2x 20 dollars gift card on amazon, that i had there the last 2 years. As lose bids totaled $3 and item costs $10. I thought you could chose not to and hope that your next "$3" total for the next "$10", puts you ahead. If so, I'm not sure why I'd risk it, someone is bound to beat me the last second (I'm not that lucky). Unless, the $10 item is actually worth $13. If that was the case, many people would stop at $3, while hoping for lower, but others would gamble and try to get it for under $13.
