Heya,

Haven't managed to put any changes online yesterday as I was catching up on tickets and worked on some other matters. But I should have the most needed changes ready in a bit.

Slosumo:

I saw a suggestion to all Mods to edit all staff posts (Jo, paidverts, slosumo) in the news feed (not including the first post) to make them red so they stand out amongst the other posts in the thread. Do you support this idea?

Mods can't edit staff posts. But I'll think about coloring the staff posts or perhaps better yet force them to all be shown on the first page - which can be a bit awkward/confusing if say Jo replies to some certain post in the middle of a thread, but I suppose it should in any case be better than being completely lost in the thread.

The upcoming changes when I get some minutes from Kamil:
SHCP mod changes:
- original posters' username seen in the SHCP
- before/after messages are in correct HTML structure
- link to the original thread(not yet to the original post cause as simple as that sounds it's a bit more complicated/requires additional server resources)
- changes for mod's own posts aren't shown anymore
- mods/admins have a different name color&name; tag in the forum posts

A little bit of conditional code could automatically highlight all staff posts...cool smirk
Of course then you gotta choose a color.wassat
Perhaps a background color change would work?

So is this latest "Where are the ads" topic suitable for removal? Or are we just going to tolerate them?

1. Ads Issue?

And how do you delete an entire topic? Just delete the first post?

I am not being too heavy handed on deleting the 'where are my ads' but enough is enough.. if the topic has constructive meaning ok.. but if it is 'where are my ads'... I think we should just erase them... its amazing the amount of 'where are my ads' we get everyday

My opinion is, in the context of the Daily News, let it go. A new topic, like Catt said though, enough is enough, you're just being lazy by not reading the news and cluttering with new topics.

I think just highlighting staff posts is going to be ugly as hell. Today I was running around most of the day and hardly logged any hours so just managed to do tickets and the above updates.

Obviously this isn't the final version - I'll try to figure out the best solution for staff posts and give you guys the ability to delete/edit/move topics.

And once that's done work on some sort of a voting system before any major changes take effect.

* topics like "where are my ads" are definitely delete material imo.

I agree with not highlighting the TEXT of staff posts.
That's why I suggesting a highly-faded background color change, like blue, to indicate staff posts.
You'll figure out something.
Keep up the good work and thanks for your efforts.

Of Course, Having a contrasted tag next to their name would serve the purpose just as well.

just use another colour to our usernames... something like blue for admins and green for mods.
And that's it smile keep it simple guys!

What if it just a "badge" or icon, placed to the right of name, long & narrow so it does screw up the layout. Something like:

Red for Admin--easiest seen by far, maybe blue for Mods.

Slosumo, question:

I know ref links or links to the other sites are something what we must delete. What about any link to the 3-rd party site, like MMG forum etc etc.... I ask you that cause that is 3-rd party advertising, since on those 3-rd party sites are also ref links to sites about which are topics.

Same question about Facebook and other social network group links for other earnings.

Thanks.

I'm not answering for slosumo, but I personally think the referral rule just has to do with other 'Earning' sites.
If a person doesn't earn an income by referring you to the site, it should be OK, TOS wise.

As long as any links are topic-related/helpful you can leave them be. No issue(even if it's a ref link to, say, a tracking tool someone might be asking about).

*the new changes I know there's too many pages on the shcp edits, I have to adjust one more query which I'll do tomorrow.
