You need to make that up somewhere too, plus the $50 - $100 in share trading fees This is the problem with trying to 'govern' behavior. When you change the rules, people react and not always in ways expected. Just like raising taxes does not always make the revenue expected because then people change their habits. Gas taxes are a great example. Governments think that by raising taxes they will make so many more dollars based on current usage. What happens though is that people change their cars and their driving habits and so revenue is not always what is expected. How do you know that the day traders will not all decide to take their money out of MTV in order to get a better return somewhere else if we raise the fees or reverse split the shares? You think that people won't change their behavior if you take away their opportunity to make $20 or $50 or whatever they make per day. As if they are only here for the company's benefit and not serving their own needs. The thing is they could have their cash in here because maybe they can only make $5 or $10 in some other opportunity. So, you take away the chance for them to make $20 here and they will settle on making $10 somewhere else. People do what they do based on self interest most of the time. Then you aren't making any fees from them when they leave. If you take away their benefits, it may not seem like much from the big picture perspective, but to the individual, it could mean a lot. A company sees thousands of dollars in revenue benefits when it tries to make a change but all of those dollars come from individuals and they are counting their pennies Why has Brainy started cashing out? Because he has seen something he no longer likes in the site? Has anybody asked him? That is his choice, but the problem for the rest of us is that his cash is leaving our economy. So why don't you think that the next few levels below him won't start leaving if we change the rules on them too? and then on the other side how many people might quit if we don't change the rules? This is the other risk we take. It is a balancing act but just slamming fees or share splits on people because the market is acting a certain way can create more problems than they solve. We saw this when Jo was running things. He would decide to add a fee or change returns and then be shocked by people doing the 'wrong' things with their money. That I don't know and Michael's right. He could be diversifying. My point was that he wants at least some of his money in other places and that is probably prudent for him. If we start changing things around, we need to be careful it doesn't become prudent for others. and there is no need to panic. I am the type that always tries to look at the extreme of the spectrum to see where we could go, not where we probably will go.
